ALGIERS- The chief of staff of the People's National Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, will begin Saturday an official visit to the People's Republic of China, as part of the "strengthening of military cooperation between the two countries," the ministry of National Defence said in a statement.

The visit, part of the "strengthening of the ties of friendship and cooperation" between the People's National Army and the Chinese People's Army of Liberation, will be an opportunity for the two sides to "examine issues of common interest and the ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries," the statement said.

 

Army General Chanegriha received in Beijing by Chinese Army General Liu Zhenli

ALGIERS- Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (ANP), was received on Monday, the 2nd day of his official visit to China, by Army General Liu Zhenli, Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of National Defence said in a statement.

"As part of his official visit to the People's Republic of China, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the ANP, was received on November 13, 2023 at the headquarters of the Central Military Commission by Army General Liu Zhenli, Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, where a military formation of the Chinese Army honoured him," said the source.

After the performance of the two countries' national anthems, the Army General inspected the squares of the various Chinese Armed Forces.

This was followed by an extended meeting with members of the two countries' delegations.

On this occasion, Army General Saïd Chanegriha expressed his "deep gratitude for the hospitality granted to him and the accompanying delegation." 

"It is my pleasure on this honourable occasion to renew to you and to all those present my high regard and my heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality you have granted to us since our arrival in this friendly country, which reflect the authenticity of our bilateral military cooperation relations that are based on the two countries' historical heritage, with all that it carries in terms of political, strategic and human depth," said the Chief of Staff of the ANP.

The Army General also stressed "the excellence of the long-standing relations between the two countries, which date back to the glorious Revolution of 1 November 1954," adding that the People's Republic of China was "among the first countries to support the Algerian people's struggle for their right to self-determination at the Bandung Conference in 1955, and the first non-Arab country to recognize the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic, as soon as its creation was announced on 19 September 1958."

The Army General went on to say that "the close relations between Algeria and China are reflected in all the honourable positions shared by the two countries."

" Given these distinguished relations, based on joint militant solidarity in favour of sovereignty and independent decision-making, the struggle for justice and freedom is, in this respect, still relevant, particularly in a world that is increasingly moving towards unprecedented multipolarity and towards a new global distribution of power, far from hegemonic orientations based on exclusion, on attempts to impose agendas and on the weakening of the political choices of States," he stressed. 

These talks were also an opportunity for the two parties to "exchange views on issues of common interest and examine ways of consolidating military and security cooperation between the two countries," concluded the National Defence Ministry. 

 

ANP Chief of Staff meets heads of Chinese companies specialized in military industry

ALGIERS- Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (ANP), met on Sunday, the first day of his visit to China, with the heads of companies specialising in military industries and defence electronics, the Ministry of National Defence said in a statement.

"During the first day of his visit to the People's Republic of China, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the ANP, held on this 12th November 2023, an extended working meeting with the managers of the Chinese company Poly Technologies INC, specialized in military industries, where he received a detailed briefing on the latest products of the said company," the same source said, adding that he was also "entitled to receive extensive explanations on the development achieved by China in this field."

The Chief of Staff of the ANP and the accompanying delegation "held another meeting with the managers of the Chinese company CETC, specializing in defence electronics, where he received a briefing on the operation of this company and its expertise in the field of defence and maintenance, as well as on the means of coordination and cooperation in order to strengthen strategic cooperation between Algeria and China," concluded the source.

 

Army General Chanegriha holds talks in Beijing with Army General Xu Xueqian

ALGIERS - Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (ANP), held talks on Tuesday, the 3rd day of his official visit to China, with Army General Xu Xueqiang, head of the equipment development department of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence said in a statement.

"As part of his official visit to the People's Republic of China, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, held talks today, 14 November 2023, at the headquarters of the Central Military Commission with Army General Xu Xueqiang, Head of the Central Military Commission's Equipment Development Department," the same source said.

During this meeting, which was extended to the members of both delegations, the Army General expressed his "deep gratitude" to his host for the welcome extended to him and the accompanying delegation, before handing over a letter from the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, to his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, and to the friendly people of China.

"First of all, I would like to express my sincere thanks and deep gratitude for the welcome and hospitality extended to us since our arrival in the People's Republic of China."

"On this occasion, I bring a message of friendship from President of the Algerian Republic, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, and to the friendly people of China and its Armed Forces," said the Chief of Staff of the ANP.

During his speech, Army General Chanegriha alsSXso recalled the "excellence of the long-standing relations" between the two countries, which have seen "significant development in the strategic partnership."

"I would also like to reiterate our high and unique regard for the quality of the relations that unite our two countries and which have risen, thanks to the will of the leaders of both countries, to the rank of excellence, enabling us to deepen and broaden our strategic partnership,he stressed.

"The last visit by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to your friendly country at the invitation of President Xi Jinping had a very positive impact on the strengthening of historic Algerian-Chinese relations, and was crowned with success, notably through the signing of nineteen agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields, including security and defence," he added.

The Army General also stressed the " need " to reinforce bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields in order to " meet the ambitions and aspirations of the two countries and the two armies."

"The quality of the relations that unite our two countries and our respective armies calls on us today, more than ever, to work together to define a promising and ambitious mutually beneficial framework, enabling us to broaden the areas of bilateral military cooperation and raise it to the highest level that matches our shared capacities and meets our aspirations," said Chanegriha.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the two parties to "discuss ways of strengthening coordination and military and security cooperation between the two countries," said the National Defence Ministry.

The ANP Chief of Staff then visited the headquarters of the CASIC military industry group and its CVIC company in Beijing, where he was briefed on the company's latest products in the field of vehicles and armoured vehicles, and received detailed explanations of the modern techniques used in the Chinese defence system.

He then visited the headquarters of NORINCO, located on the outskirts of Beijing, where he was warmly welcomed by the company's managers, who expressed their willingness to share their experience with Algeria in the military industry, concluded the ministry.

 

General Chanegriha visits 72nd unit of the Chinese Air Force

ALGIERS-Army General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (ANP), visited the 72nd unit of the Chinese Air Force on Wednesday, on the fourth day of his official visit to the People's Republic of China, according to a press release from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).

The Army General "attended an aerial demonstration performed by members of the 72nd unit of the Chinese Air Force, before meeting base officials and receiving detailed explanations on the work of air units, crew training and personnel in the field of military aviation,” said the source.

"General Saïd Chanegriha then visited the headquarters of the Falcon Brigade of the Special Military Police, where he and the accompanying delegation attended a series of military field demonstrations and exercises, reflecting the combat skills and readiness of Chinese forces to deal with any possible threat,” said the source.

At the end of the visit, the ANP Chief of Staff "signed the guest book of the Special Military Police Falcon Brigade and took a souvenir photo with the members of the unit who performed the demonstrations and exercises.”
